SAM HOLT BAND
“I’ve always wanted the songs to come out the way I hear them in my head, when the inspiration is the freshest and most pure,” says Sam Holt. “This record captures the songs the way I envisioned.”
The debut album from Sam Holt Band, Southern Angels, contains Holt’s most honest and accomplished songs to date. The album features guest appearances from Widespread Panic’s John Bell and Danny Hutchens of Bloodkin. The emotional honesty in the lyrics came from experiencing the bittersweet nature of life. “Many events and emotions in the song ‘Southern Angels’ are from my time with Widespread Panic. Having John Bell on this tune is an honor, but also makes perfect sense,” he states.
There are themes of finding positivity in the wake of tragedy running through the record. ‘Fix It Up Man’ co-written with Danny Hutchens addresses this subject. “Danny’s lyrics paint a positive picture of someone who left us too soon. The track is a tribute to someone we both love and miss very much,” reveals Holt.
Sam is known for his on stage appearances with Widespread Panic and his national touring band Outformation. Sam Holt Band formed in late 2011 after Holt relocated to Colorado. “I’m so lucky to have these guys in the band. Everyone is a great player, and we listen to each other,” says the transplanted Southerner.
The chemistry was palpable the first time they played together. Sam Holt Band quickly gained a devoted following from their tremendous live show. “Whether it’s a rocker or an improv jam, seeing the audience react confirms the connection we have goes beyond the band.”
The band has shared the stage with Shooter Jennings, Keller Williams, 7 Walkers, New Mastersounds, North Mississippi Allstars, Jason Isbell, and Jerry Joseph.
With a national touring schedule falling into place and a new record, Sam Holt Band is ready to take their music to the masses. “The journey is the thing, and I’m excited to be on it with these guys,” Holt declares.
“You don’t have to drink alone in such fine company.”
With a musical styling that incorporates the sounds of Traffic, J.J. Cale, Drivin’ n’ Cryin’, Widespread Panic, Grateful Dead, and The Allman Brothers with just a touch of outlaw country, the members of Escape Vehicle have been brewing their batch of gritty, down-home, whiskey-drenched rock n’ roll in and around the southeastern United States since 2001. Their solid reputation as a soulful, hard-working band with honest tunes and a fanbase that’s always looking to hit the dance floor makes for a raucous live experience that leaves both newcomers and diehards screaming for more. Having shared the stage with the likes of Col. Bruce Hampton, Jeff Mosier, Count M’butu, Railroad Earth, Bloodkin, Particle, Tea Leaf Green, Blueground Undergrass, Outformation/The Sam Holt Band, Tinsley Ellis, and Coy Bowles & the Fellowship (of the Zac Brown Band), the Vehicle prides itself on its professionalism and high caliber musicianship. This band thrives and survives in a live setting in collaboration with a willing audience. With one studio release under our belt and another album of originals slated for a spring 2014 release, we invite you to come out to our next show so that our music can speak for itself.
