STEVE BASKIN / RANDOM ACCESS
$8 IN ADVANCE / $12 DAY OF
I write, record and play a unique blend of smart, energetic pop and Americana rock and roll. I've been writing with Scott Shiflett, and have just released my third full-length release -- Dead Rock Star.
This is my first try at collaborating with another writer on a full album. Absolute Power Pop says it's my best yet. They also note that it's one of the best early releases of 2015.
I perform as a solo acoustic artist; as a rocking acoustic duo; and also as Steve Baskin and Client 9 from Outer Space, with a razor-sharp four-piece band.
“Catch Me If You Can”, a pop rocker from my second release (Naked, 2009) enjoyed radio play around the US and climbed to the 10th most added song, according to FMQB. The song earned airplay in more than 50 markets around the US.
A South Georgia native, I began his musical career at a young age. Over the years, I've played/toured/shared the stage with greats, Grammy Award winners and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees including Sam Moore (Sam & Dave), The Shirelles, Carla Thomas, Mary Wells, Percy Sledge, The Beach Boys, Cindy Wilson (B52s) and Rob Thomas among others.
Random Access, an Atlanta-based alternative band, is John Broomfield - lead vocals, guitar, sax and keys; Gary Hopkins - bass, backing vocals, keys; Victor Alvarez - drums and percussion; Mike King - guitar, backing vocals, keys. RA's sound is a genre-colliding, super conductive blend of the band's influences from punk to blues-based rock and new wave - to funk and jazz. Quirky-catchy lyrics and phrasing over raw, energetic guitar, a driving bass and solid rhythms, their sound is charged and relevant.
