A VERY LOUD DEATH
AVLD is a three-piece band from Atlanta, GA. Guitar and bass and drums.
The new single from Holders is an example of how difficult it is to bring any new elements to emo punk, let alone reinvent the genre. For a new, young band, this is a bold mix of mid ’00s emo and garage punk with punchy lyrics and intense instrumentation. Unfortunately, “Tough” also sounds remarkably similar to every other emo punk anthem about the inherent difficulty of life. This isn’t so much a failing of Holders, as it is a limitation of the genre.
That being said, the group does show off their creativity with the relaxed intro, a few waltzing bars which recall Brand New before they break into frenetic vocals and furious strumming. Ultimately, “Tough” is a catchy effort, which is a worthy accomplishment for any young band. If Holders can continue to hone their post-hardcore energy and refine their emo lyricisms, then expect good things from them in the near future.
We're an energetic progressive post hardcore band hailing from Atlanta Georgia! Come get some!
Monk Tesh formed in 2016 when local bassist, Will Giannini, and guitarist, Jeb Pritchett, came together to create a progressive rock band, reminiscent of favorites such as Rush, Mastodon, Opeth, Tool, Porcupine Tree and more. They met New York drummer, Taylor Ryan, who also shared a love for Progressive music, and began writing a collection of songs that blend a variety of styles, feelings, and time signatures. Monk Tesh is currently playing shows across GA, and working towards finishing their debut EP, Voyageur, set to release February 1st 2018
