Halo Circus are a highly acclaimed Los Angeles based electronic duo featuring star singer Allison Iraheta and producer Matthew Hager. Formerly a four piece rock band, Halo Circus have returned as a compelling synth-pop duo, with a sparkling new album Robots and Wranglers, mixed by Grammy Award winner Craig Bauer (Rihanna, Kanye West). The band are the poster children of the new DIY music industry landscape, and are looking to take that approach a step further in 2018. With universal praise from critics, celebrities, famous musicians, and The Grammys, Halo Circus are now on the brink of releasing a redefining full-length album that has them primed for success. The album is the follow up to 2016’s rock-leaning Bunny album, which was heralded by fans and critics alike, making multiple “Best of 2016” lists. The track “Band-Aid” was even named the #1 song of 2016 by PopDust. The first single off the album, "Desire (Lo Que Vale La Pena)," was downloaded 647,000 times in its first week of release in a promotion with BitTorrent Bundle. Even more remarkable (and revolutionary), the forward-thinking band were able to crowdfund an entire 30 date US tour, a first in the ever changing music industry. The tour came to an end at The Hotel Cafe in November of that year to a packed house and rave reviews. The future was wide open, and Halo Circus were playing ball in this new lands cape where whole tours could now be booked solely with the backing of a committed fanbase.Then predictably, a wrench in the works. Before embarking on their second US tour to support their “East Lansing Sessions” EP in 2017, last minute complications forced Iraheta and Hager to hit the road as a duo for the first time. Not wanting to play to tracks that included live instruments, Iraheta and Hager started work on an electronic sound that was part Halo Circus, part something else entirely. After performing a stunning version of the track “Band Aid” (written with the great Paul Williams) as a duo on Sirius XM FEEDBACK (Ch. 106), followed by an incredible response at the Brighton Music Hall s how in Boston, Iraheta and Hager began to feel comfortable with their new live aesthetic. By the time the tour hit Texas, the sound had been sharpened and the duo were now playing to packed houses and fans that were more than receptive to the new sounds. At the completion of the tour, and with the band’s new live set up in mind, Iraheta and Hager began conceptualizing the sound of the new record, a record that would be made as a duo and visit places they had never been musically. The duo drove back to Los Angeles full of excitement and ideas and would spend the next four months writing and recording the new record. What resulted is Robots and Wranglers, a concept album that sees the duo at the top of their game, seemingly right at home making a stylistic electronic record that feels like it was always there, right in the duo’s creative wheelhouse. Gone are the rock stylings of Bunny, replaced this time around with finely crafted synth-pop gems, clad with sometimes minimal, occasionally lush electronic arrangements. What remains in the fold is Iraheta’s recognizably dark vocals and introspective lyrical approach—hallmarks of the band and the kind of superstar traits that have won over fans nationwide. The album is already being hailed as “a cinematic, electronic work of fiction set in 2018. ” Up-tempo album standout “Oh, Money,” features a pounding minimal electronic beat over Iraheta’s vocals about the corrosive influence of cash. Other highlights include the soaring and anthemic “Commander,” and the powerfully vulnerable track “Narcissist.” Thematically, the album is an exploration of the modern consumer culture and its consequences. The universal praise and flurry of attention surrounding Halo Circus has resulted in massive opportunities for the group. Allison Iraheta has lended her powerhouse vocals to various notable projects, including appearing on the recent NIN EP “Add Violence,” on the song “Less Than.” In addition, new FOX singing competition The Four—featuring Sean Combs, DJ Khaled, and Meghan Trainor—reached out to Allison to help work on the pilot, citing her as a trailblazing artist that is pushing the boundaries of music and the business of music. More recently, Allison performed at renowned industry giant Clive Davis ’Grammy party, in a duet with superstar Latin crossover artist Luis Fonsi on the track, “Echamela La Culpa.” With the release of Robots and Wranglers arriving this Spring, Halo Circus’ future is lit with a newfound optimism. More at home as a duo than ever before, Iraheta and Hager have tapped into the reduced essence of their creativity and are ready for their formal arrival. Armed with a new album of inspiring electro-pop tracks, and one of the most supportive fanbases in the country, they will be hitting the road this March on a nationwide tour.
