EXQUISITE GENDER

SUE WILKINSON

$10 IN ADVANCE / $13 DAY OF

Exquisite Gender is an eclectic trans explosion.

Meet Exquisite Gender, Atlanta’s all-transgender band that doesn’t just play gigs — it creates extravaganzas.

Bringing powerhouse vocals and fabulous, colorful showmanship is Athens veteran frontperson-in-drag Synn, whose costumes are a visual feast. She prowls through the audience with a nasty sense of humor that is part sharp-edged and daring, part loose cannon.

The band’s hard-hitting sound is punctuated with ripping solos from ace lead guitarist and guitar/keyboard synth player JoAnn Pfeiffer.

Second lead vocals, harmonies and rhythm guitar come from Atlanta music scene veteran Bucky Motter, the artist at one time known as Angela Motter. Motter’s rocked-up tunes are sprinkled through the band’s set.

Hard-driving drummer Mandi MacDonald (Metalsome Mondays, Straightlaced, Jezebel) holds down the groove with bass player Gina James (Jezebel and other various Atlanta bands).

Even the band’s back-up singers, who don’t happen to be trans, bring extra flair to the performances, with matching outfits and costume changes.

Exquisite Gender truly exploded onto the Atlanta music scene in February  2018, with their maiden voyage, performing at Out Front Theatre- for an audience of over 100. The band played beloved covers from the award-winning Broadway musical Hedwig and the Angry Inch, as well as metal-influenced versions of songs ranging from George Michael’s Careless Whisper to GWAR’s cover of Cindy Lauper’s She Bop.

Exquisite Gender: Expect the unexpected.

SUE WILKINSON

The unforgettable ambient sounds of SUE G. WILKINSON are trance-like and highly melodic, powered by breathtaking vocals that can only be categorized as one of a kind. Blessed with “an amazing vocal range", she has not only the power to blow a brick house down, but an astounding sense of versatility with the emotional capacity of some of the world's greatest singers. "Her new title track (Sympatico) is at once piercing yet mellow, languid yet pulse pounding, and undoubtedly one of the most gorgeous cerebral pieces I've ever heard.” says ezine MuzikMan.

Sue is the voice and co-composer behind a musical collaboration with film scorer, bassist, and recording artist, PATRICK OHEARN. A Grammy award winner, his electronic-based instrumental music is considered to be the foundation behind the ambient musical movement, not to mention the modern synthesized orchestral sound heard in today's film scores.

No reason to wonder why Wilkinson has opened up for bands like PEARL JAM, RED HOT CHILIPEPPERS, Ministry, Lush, THE INDIGO GIRLS, COLONEL BRUCE HAMPTON and the Aquarium Rescue Unit, GRATEFUL DEAD'S Bob Weir, Michelle Shock, KANSAS and many others.

One of Sue G. Wilkinson's first memories is of singing and tap dancing to the original version of Jim Dandy to the Rescue on the front porch of her south Georgia home. "I had on my best tutu, tapping and singing away, hoping someone would notice me. But seeing that I lived on a little dirt street, and the town only had 30,000 people in it, I was lucky to see an occasional pickup truck." Discovery came when she was six years old, in the way of the little downtown Baptist Church, her first public solo performance. "I felt so strange at the end of my song, when I looked over at the organist and saw she was in tears. It was much later that I realized that my singing moved people up or down emotionally. I was just a little confused why the nice little lady was crying!"

Spending time in the UK touring includes gigs at THE BURNLEY INTERNATIONAL BLUES FESTIVAL, THE LEMON TREE IN ABERDEEN SCOTLAND, THE 12 BAR CLUB IN LONDON, THE MUSICIAN IN LEICESTER, ENGLAND, THE STUDIO IN HARTLEPOOL just to name a few.

Probably her favorite gigs were in JAPAN. Twice, through two different Cherry Blossoms Festivals, she enchanted the Japaneese with her astonding vocal prowess.

Some of Sue’s accomplishments include a nomination by THE COCA COLA MUSIC AWARDS for BEST NEW ROCK BAND in Georgia. That same year the INDIGO GIRLS won Best Acoustic Act and Trisha Yearwood won Best New Country Act. Her voice can be heard on many commercials, including WAFFLE HOUSE, THE NATIONAL MILK ASSOCIATION, & SIX FLAGS OVER

GEORGIA.

Described as a SIREN WITH A SOULFUL SOUND, Sue's music has been in HEAVY ROTATION on ATLANTA'S ALBUM 88, America's largest college radio station and one of the most powerful when it comes to programming what's up and coming in the music industry. She has also been featured on WOMEN OF MP3.COM - with three of her songs holding the #1, #2, and #3 in the Georgia AAA/Alternative category for close to a year. Sue's ORCHESTRAL COMPOSITIONS won an INTERNATIONAL TELLY AWARD for an original instrumental score Sue co-composed with former STEVE MORRIS bassist JERRY PEEK.

Sue G. Wilkinson… performer extra ordinaire - once you hear her, you'll remember this sound, this voice, this style of music.
