THE MERCURY SAINTS
The Mercury Saints have dubbed their sound "Vintage Rock", inspired by classic rock & roll such as the Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, the Kinks, AC/DC, Jimi Hendrix, and more. But, like anything vintage, the Saints' sound has picked up some rough edges along the way, adding a punk- and grunge-infused, power chord-driven distortion—to say nothing of intensity—that sets their sound apart. Based in Atlanta, this foursome is comprised of Doug Banks on drums, John Pinkston on lead guitar, Jason Fincher on bass, and Tyler Duckworth on lead vocals and rhythm guitar. In the spirit of great Southern Rock bands such as Lynyrd Skynyrd, the Saints are just regular guys doing regular things to make ends meet. Doug is a Nerf, Lego, yo-yo, and kiteboarding enthusiast who somehow finds time in his busy schedule to gig and record. Meanwhile, John is finishing his degree in radiology, Jason manages a campus bookstore, and Tyler is the art director for the Snellville T-shirt company Atlanta Screenprints. Needless to say, these guys have a reason to cut loose on the weekends. The Saints’ debut full-length album, Grand Karmic Circus, just dropped this Valentine's Day and is available for sale. Their 2012 EP, One-Night Stands, can be downloaded for free at: mercurysaints.com/disco mercurysaints.bandcamp.com reverbnation.com/mercurysaints In the meantime, you can catch them playing live around Atlanta, Athens, and the Southeast. Check the Mercury Saints homepage (mercurysaints.com) for show details.
